We’re in Venice

After a few last minute health problems, including a little vacation in ICU for John last week, we actually WERE able to leave on our trip to Venice and beyond as scheduled.  Mom’s neighbor Jane very graciously offered to take us to the Eugene airport on Friday morning, and we had a pleasantly uneventful series of flights to Venice.

We arrived Saturday evening, took a walk around the neighborhood to stretch our legs and get a little fresh air, had a light dinner at the hotel, then hit the hay.

Our itinerary includes a couple of days in Venice before we embark on a Viking ocean cruise around the Mediterranean that ends in Barcelona, followed by a road trip through northern Spain.

Today we’re going to explore Venice - more about that in the next post.

  1. I see you are going to Naples. You must go to the Archaeological Museum. Best in the world. Take a taxi from the port. Avoid tour groups. Read up on it and see what you want to see, not what the tour guide wants you to see. Beware the taxi drivers ripping you off.
